YMF Fits suitability is dependent on previous exercise history and whether you've been signed off by your doctor. If exercised regularly prior to birth this class is suitable from 6 weeks after a vaginal birth or 12 weeks after a caesarean section. If you haven't exercised prior to birth then the classes are suitable from 12 weeks after a vaginal birth or 18 weeks after a caesarean section. We would recommend you complete one of our YMF Core courses if you haven't exercised before to introduce you back into exercise.
These classes are 45/50minutes long and involve a number of exercises set out as a circuit. These exercises will help you to build your fitness and strength throughout the whole body, with a focus on core stability and functional movements. Each exercise will have variations to suit your fitness level and you will be guided as to which to use. In your first class, prior to starting YMF Fit, you will be asked if you want to be checked for diastasis recti (separation of the tummy muscles) to ensure you are safe to perform certain exercises.
We aim to use different exercises each class, using a mixture of body weights and resistance bands, to prevent boredom and ensure that you progress.
All YMF Fit classes include:
- A Warm Up/Mobilisation
- Cardio Stations
- Strength Stations
- Core Stations
- Cool Down
At the end of each class there will be time to sit and have a chat with the other mums and babies.
